As our first core value highlights, 'Excellence in teaching and learning is at the heart of all we do' and the college strives to offer a responsive curriculum to meet the needs of learners, the local economy and government strategy. Basic Skills, Welsh language education, widening participation and Government initiatives in response to the recession have all been high on the agenda in 2011 and 12.
Leighton Andrews, Minister for Welsh Education has committed Wales to improvements in literacy at all levels of learning. Yale College endorses this, and all learners are being challenged to develop their literacy skills, from their customer service and employability skills to the higher level literacy skills needed for university study.
As a result of strong teaching and learning leadership the College can report that: 86% of all lessons observed this year have been good or excellent. Continued and consistently high success rates across courses throughout the College evidence excellent learning outcomes for learners and Yale has won the CollegesWales Award for Outstanding Leadership in Teaching and Learning, sponsored by the Welsh Government.
